Delicious gluten free and dairy free chocolate smoothie
Avoid the sugar rush with this delicious gluten-free and dairy-free chocolate smoothie. No artificial sweeteners in sight, this naturally sweet treat is a big hit in my house. I think I have it even more often than my girls! It will work for breakfast, lunch or a filling snack. I regularly have this in the morning before work and it takes me right through to lunchtime.
This plant-based recipe is ideal for anyone on a Hashimoto's friendly diet. The magnesium in the chia seeds and cacao powder is great for general thyroid health and function. Taking just a couple of minutes to prepare, this smoothie ticks all the boxes for me.
300 mls plant based milk (I use Plenish gluten-free oat milk)
1 small banana
4 dates (remove stones)
1 tsp chia seeds
1 tbsp cacao powder (Naturya is my favourite)
1-2 tsp almond butter (Pip n Nut is a great all natural option)
Pour in the liquid first followed by all other ingredients and blend until smooth (1-2 minutes).
